I've finally begun a blog because I'm repeatedly overwhelmed by what a bunch of morons and cowards are running the world. They are creating our shared future and I wish to, at least, to make fun of the situation. Talent and intelligence are so rare in Australian politics that I feel compelled to contribute some ludicrous ideas of my own, to parody some of the stunningly stupid things occurring day by day, and to be able to prove that I was struggling against the culture of stupidity when my grandchildren ask me how we let it get so crazy.

FREE SPEECH; MY ARSE!

The most important global topic during the last couple of months has been Freedom of Speech.  Millions marched, or at least milled about in European capitals, supporting the concept of Free Speech in response to  the murders of 12  satirists by Muslim terrorists.
Despite the emotion, Freedom of Expression remains in real danger of extinction in The Free World, and  right here on campus, because it's too often qualified by the condition that "It mustn't offend anyone".
It's oft-repeated that "the pen is mightier than the sword" even though it's been cruelly shown that bullets leave them both for dead. But here murderers aren't required to silence dissent because students are doing it to themselves as a result of the politicisation of everything and the popularity of 'gratuitous niceness'.  Political Correctness has emasculated the public by the overweening compulsion  to be 'nice'.
The range of prohibited words and ideas has grown steadily for decades.  What was merely criticism is now 'hate-speech'. A PC army 'monitors' all media for anything they can interpret as sexist, racist, ageist, homophobic, islamophobic, etc.
The importance of citizens' ability to engage in open discussion dates back to Ancient Greece and freedom of expression has been re-enforced countless times over the centuries by highly-respected figures, many who sacrificed their lives to defend and preserve  what we're now giving away by caving into blackmail from sheep in sheep's clothing.
We are losing the most intense propaganda battle in history by allowing thesurveillance state to use a coalition-of-the-weak  to quell our freedoms.
In 2015, Free Speech barely exists. Self-censorship is rife. Public figures fear being branded anti-woman, pro-life, or islamophobic for a mere slip of the tongue. Citizens are gaoled for tweeting or posting ill-considered nonsense on Facebook. Journalists walk on eggshells and politicians have lost the ability to speak spontaneously. People lose their jobs and entire careers are destroyed by witch-hunting new-age-nazis so that self-censorship has become the new normal.
Special interest groups discovered the power of simply claiming to be offended. First it was the feminists and the homosexuals but soon every 'oppressed group' was on the band-wagon because, "I'm offended!' meant End of Discussion.
So-called 'left-wing' groups have eaten away our freedoms by using dubious manipulations since the personal became political.
Our society is being undermined by a coalition of minorities bound and blinded by their hatred of 'patriarchal hetero-normative society'. Their ideological obedience (IO) is intellectual regression so warped by fakery that the only thing real is the feeling of control they get by setting limits for otherwise free people. From advocates of freedom the 'progressives'  have become petty tyrants using weaselish tactics to silence all and sundry until only their own weirdly hypocritical point of view remains.
Huxley's Brave New World is the book that describes the situation.   No overt violence but an homogenisation programme that relies on the participation of the slaves who love their servitude. Like prisoners marched off to Siberia first thing they do is build their own prison.
Loaded with contradictions the spiritually superior have used lies and distortion  masked by euphemisms and statistics (concocted from advocacy research) repeated mindlessly to construct a fantasy paradigm.
Truth should be the measure of what is worth saying regardless of who agrees or disagrees. An honest statement cannot be sexist or racist.
But "What is truth?" is the question to be expected from today's 'intellectuals' and that's the post-modern nonsense that has damaged our universities.
Truth isn't philosophical masturbation. It's what resonates as heartfelt honesty. If we all speak our truth, your truth, my truth, each individual's truth, open discussion can lead to broader understanding. Drop the pretence to break the impasse, to burst through the barriers of bullshit that block the best way forward as a free society. Speak the truth and be fearless.
The posts on this blog will be in the form of humorous hard-hitting short stories. I've sold more than 2,000 various collections of them in book form, and one even won an ABC award. Hope you enjoy them. jm
